An early Victorian rosewood veneered jewellery and dressing box.
The box has a fitted interior with a lift out tray that holds a pair of glass perfume bottles, a pair of silver plate top pin jars, a leather board to hold scissors and manicure tools and four lidded compartments.
The box has a single drawer with a military style brass handle and a locking pin to keep the drawer closed.
The interior of the drawer is lined with green velvet to hold rings and other jewellery, while under the lift out tray is an area for storage.
The underside of the box lid is covered in green velvet and falls forward to expose a lift out rosewood framed dressing mirror with a mahogany fold out stand.
The jewel box is in excellent condition with a working lock and key.
The mirror plate is a replacement and the interiors of the lidded compartment would have had a fine foil lining which is now gone. (Circa 1850)
