Victorian Shapland and Petter Antique Ash Triple Wardrobe.
This quality Victorian Arts and Crafts antique ash triple wardrobe was made by the renowned Shapland and Petter of Barnstaple, circa 1880, whose stamp can be found on one of the locks. The Barnstaple based company manufactured some of the finest pieces in the Arts & Crafts style and this is a superb example of their work. It has two mirrored doors with unusual carved turnings with each interior having a single hanging rail. The central section of the antique wardrobe has a shaped top above a central glazed door with applied copper work detailing in typical Arts and Crafts style. It has a central shelf and three oak lined drawers. The lower section has a large drawer with reeded edges, unusual shaped bracket sides and stands on a moulded plinth. It is a rich, golden ash with a striking grain, good patina, is in very good condition and has been beautifully cleaned using a traditional form of wax finishing.
Please note this wardrobe splits into three sections.
