This decorative Victorian shell biscuit box opens to reveal a pretty interior. Silver plated with gold plated lining. Very pretty embossed decoration with flowers and leaves. Traditionally these boxes were kept by the fire to warm the biscuits. Height 25 cms. Width 21 cms. Circa 1870. Maker Walker and Hall.
This pretty shell box is in excellent condition with no damage or restoration. The mechanism works easily. The silver plate and gilt are not worn. The base metal is called Britannia Metal which is heavier than nickel.

Please note that this item is not new and will show moderate signs of wear commensurate with age. Reflections in the photograph may detract from the true representation of this item.
