An antique spoon warmer in the former of a nautilus shell on a raised base. Engraved flower and foliate decoration and with a quality hinged lid. Nice clean shiny finish Height 15 cms. Length 15.5 cms. Width 8.5 cms. Silver plated Circa 1870. Marked underneath with silver plate stamps for Mappin & Webb, London & Sheffield.
This collectible antique spoon warmer is in very good condition with no damage, bumps or bruises. No restoration. It has been re-plated and there is no plate loss. The hinge works well.
Please note that this item is not new and will show moderate signs of wear commensurate with age. Reflections in the photograph may detract from the true representation of this item.
These collectible items were originally made to assist in keeping food warm in the chilly Victorian houses. They were particularly useful in spooning out gravy. Nowadays they are popularly used as flower holders, toothbrush holders, pen pots etc.
