Coriolanus is a tragedy by William Shakespeare, based on the life of the Roman leader Caius Marcius Coriolanus.
Coriolanus was believed to be a Roman general who oversaw military success against uprisings challenging the government of Rome. Following this success, Coriolanus becomes active in politics, but failed in his attempts to seek political leadership, which ultimately led to his death.
