Another example of this rare shape in the Museo degli Argenti, Florence, also of 1754 and with the same incised mark is illustrated in Svend Eriksen and Geoffrey de Bellaigue, Sèvres Porcelain, Vincennes and Sèvres 1740-1800, London, 1987, p.277, no.92, where they suggest that it probably corresponds to what is described as a Gobelet au lait de Chopine in the stock-list of 1752.
David Peters lists the ermine spot as the mark of a flower painter in use between 1753-60 and points out that it coincides with the work period of J-J Sioux.
