This fine vintage sweetheart brooch has been crafted in 9 and 18 carat yellow gold with a platinum veneer to the front of the bar and a platinum setting for the diamonds.

The military related brooch is modelled on the collar or lapel badge of the Royal Artillery: a flaming grenade (fusil) with seven flames*.

The anterior surface of this impressive 1940's 9ct yellow gold bar brooch is veneered in platinum and ornamented with an 18ct yellow gold flaming grenade embellished with a central platinum set Old European round cut diamond.

The remainder of the platinum set design is decorated with fifty Dutch cut diamonds.

The navy blue enamelled swag below the fusil displays the regimental motto 'UBIQUE' - 'everywhere'* .

This fine example of vintage jewellery secures to the reverse with a hinged pin and safety clip fastening.

This brooch has been independently tested using state of the art technology (Niton XL2 Analyzer) and verified as 9 carat gold.

NOTES

*Seven Flames - The Royal Artillery grenade exudes seven flames, differentiating it from the Royal Engineers' badge which has nine flames emanating from the grenade.

*'UBIQUE' - This motto was originally bestowed on Engineers and Gunners by King William IV in 1832 in recognition that Gunners were not entitled to carry Regimental Colours. As the gunners served as small detachments and never as a whole unit, it meant they were 'everywhere'.
