Vintage Elizabeth II Sterling Silver Salver - Arts and Crafts Style
Offered by AC Silver
The surface of the salver has a planished finish, in the iconic Arts and Crafts style, in addition to the feature full hallmarks and ‘Keswick’ mark*.
The rounded border is ornamented with a segmented rope edge** decorated rim.
This salver is displayed with a three piece tea service for illustrative purposes only - the service (W8658) may be purchased separately from the AC Silver inventory.
This rare salver was crafted by Keswick School of Industrial Art, a metalwork company renowned for their use of copper, brass and stainless steel; sterling silver items by this maker were mainly made as special commissions and in the form of presentation gifts or church-ware.
* Keswick School of Industrial Art struck the ‘Keswick’ mark to distinguish their items apart from their competitors, in such a vast market.
** This design/technique was innovated by the director George Atholl Weeks and became a prominent characteristic of trays and bowls crafted at the School.
