The body of the bell is embellished with exceptional chased ornamentation depicting grotesque masks and lounging putti* amidst scrolling designs and domestic/mythical creatures.
The waist of the silver table bell is encircled with a plain girdle.
The bell's bead line is ornamented with a band of chased scrolling leaf decoration in addition to an applied moulded border to the sound rim.
The impressive hallmarked handle is modelled in the form of a winged putto sounding a hand bell.
This impressive table bell retains the original hallmarked sterling silver clapper.
* In art and culture, a putto (plural: putti) is a chubby male child, usually nude and occasionally bearing wings.
