The large plate depicts a large hot air balloon with a panel describing the image.
The plate has a panel which reads in Italian:-

1784 AEROSTATO DELL'ACCADEMIA DI DIGIONE CON A BORDO GUITTON E BERTRAND
(Rough translation 1784 BALLOON ACADEMY OF DIJON WITH ABOARD GUITTON AND BERTRAND)

This references the first free flight carrying a human occurred in Paris, France November 21, 1783. It was in a hot air balloon made of paper and silk made by the Montgolfier brothers. The balloon carried two men, Francois Pilatre de Rozier and Francois Laurent, Marquis of d 'Arlanders.

The name of the pattern comes from the first hot air ballooner. On the 21st November in 1784 a balloon made by two French brothers, Joseph and Etienne Montgolfier was launched from the centre of Paris and flew for a period of 20 minutes: It was the birth of hot air ballooning.

See: Fornasetti: The Complete Universe, Barnaba Fornasetti, Page 616, #167 for four examples from set.
