A superb Anglo Indian casket made in Vizagapatam, India, at the end of the 18th Century. The casket is decorated to all sides with foliate and floral decoration surrounding rectangular panels featuring various buildings and trees, the buildings would seem to be southern European in style rather than English, indicating this item was made for that market, the interior of the casket has been re-lined some time ago in red velvet and there are indications that originally there were two wooden divisions, all supported on shaped bracket feet decorated with exotic animals.
