Very good quality early 19th Century mahogany Stick Barometer, in essentially original condition; with ‘'swan-neck' pediment over signed, engraved silvered brass register plate bearing rack-and-pinion operated vernier slide and protected by reeded, glazed frame. The trunk, edge-moulded and veneered in figured mahogany with concealed barometer tube terminating behind turned cistern cover.



An illustrious partnership between Francis Watkins and William Hill, which prospered from premises at 5 Charing Cross from 1819 until 1856, when it was acquired by Elliott Brothers.
