Loxton Knight as born in Long Eaton, Derbyshire where he studied at the local grammer school before entering Nottingham School of Art (1924-9). He exhibited extensively at the Royal Society of British Artists, Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours, New Group and elsewhere. He held solo exhibitions at the Brooks Treet Gallery, Chapel Bar Gallery in Nottingham and Carl Fischer Gallery in New York. A memorial exhibition was held at Erewash Museum, Derbyshire in 1994. Works by him are in many public collections in Britain and abroad.
