This watercolour is from a collection of 8 works by William Giles. Each piece has been carefully cleaned with a new acid free mount, backing and clear view non reflective glass. Framed in a new direction similar to oil paintings with narrow mount and large frame.

1872 – 1939 British

Painter, Watercolourist, wood engraver, etcher and printmaker born and studied in Reading, Berkshire. Giles studied at the Reading School of Art, earning a scholarship to attend the Royal College of Art in London. William travelling to Paris, Scandinavia, Germany and Italy before returning to his Reading School where he worked under the expertise of celebrated woodcut artist Frank Morley Fletcher, he studied the Japanese woodcut method, a technique new to the Western world.
He lived at 183 Kings Road, Chelsea, SW3, in 1918 when he exhibited “Stonehenge: Summer Solstice” at the Royal Academy (7). Chenil and New Chenil Gallery (4), Grosvenor Gallery (8), Walker Gallery, Liverpool (20), London Salon (8), Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours (3), International Society (4), Royal Institute of Oil painters (2). William exhibited “Stonehenge, Sunrise” in 1925 at Royal Scottish Academy (2), Royal Cambrian Academy.
