This work is one of Edna Clarke Hall's poem paintings for possible inclusion in Facets a book of her illustrated poems published by Elkin Mathews & Marrot in 1930.

In 1897 Edna won a scholarship at the Slade School of Art where she studied with Augustus and Gwen John.
