Well-constructed and attractive late 19th Century brass-cased bulkhead Marine Aneroid Barometer in original condition. The engraved, silvered brass dial, with exposed aneroid movement and signed by the makers. Twin curved Centigrade and Fahrenheit thermometers. Triple bulkhead mounts.

The partnership between James Whyte and James Thomson began in Greenock in 1864, specialising in marine instruments and equipment. It quickly gained a high reputation, and thrived until the 1930’s.
