A stunning period art nouveau brooch in the manner of Josef Hoffmann and Koloman Moser for the Wiener Werkstatte. The brooch is hallmarked for Germany and the Czech town of Eger, then part of the Austro Hungarian empire. It is possibly made in Austro-Hungary and imported to Germany, though it may alternatively be a Pforzheim German piece. It is made of 900 parts silver and carries an unidentified maker’s mark “S.S”. The design of the brooch is of a gem set flower growing out of a vase made of Lapis Lazuli. Very similar brooches to this were made by the Wiener Werkstatte in c 1905-1910.
