The five pillar movement, finned and knopped, with a twin fusee movement, striking the hours and with pull repeat also striking two bells on the hour and the quarter hour. The 7.25 inch square engraved brass dial with winged cherubs head spandrels enclosing a silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring. The finely matted centre with central alarm dial set beneath the blued steel hands. The alarm energised by pulling a string to the left side of the clock. The backplate with a single line border enclosing a pattern of flowers surrounding the cartouche“Charles Gretton, London” in a reserve of foliate scrolls. It is rare to find a clock of this period with these numerous qualities, a fine piece by an eminent maker.
