A rare early antique sterling silver tankard with straight sides and a simple strap handle with a beaded rat tail. Decorated with bands of reed to the top and a band of hand engraved stars/fleur de lys over an embossed fluted panel to the lower body. Excellent colour. To the front is an engraved monogram. Height 9.5 cms. Diameter 9.0 cms (base). Contains 450 ml, ¾ pint. Weight 224 grams, 7.2 troy ounces. London 1694. Maker HO see Jacksons Page 147.
This superb mug is in good condition for its age and has no repairs or restoration. Excellent colour. The silver marks are still clear although the makers mark isn’t fully struck. There is a small split to the front of the mug on the top rim (see photo of inside and out) and the top of the handle is slightly pushed through (see photo of view from inside of the mug). Both faults are minimal and to be expected of an article of this age in genuine unrestored condition.

Please note that this item is not new and will show moderate signs of wear commensurate with age. Reflections in the photograph may detract from the true representation of this item.
