A very attractive English Regency library timepiece, the gilded brass case retaining its original high quality ormolu mounts set on its black marble base. The high quality single fusee movement runs for a week and it has a gilt brass engine turned dial with original pierced heart shaped hands.

* William Johnson was active in the Strand between 1825 and 1840 where he made a number of fine English bronze and ormolu clocks in the French taste. He is listed on page 427 of Loomes’s ‘Clockmakers of the World: 21st Century edition.’
