Item Description / Dealer Expertise

A wonderful example of a Winfield chair, gold lacquered tubular brass with cast and silvered foliate infill, newly upholstered in hand dyed and buttoned leather.
R.W Winfield, is listed in various directories between 1835 and 1890 with a factory in Birmingham and office in Fleet Street, London. A similar rocking chair was shown by Winfields at the Great Exhibition of 1851, after which iron rocking-chairs became popular throughout Europe during the second half of the 19th Century.
