WILLIAM EDWARD JONES
Flourished 1849 – 1871 signed lower left
Oil on canvas 14 x 15 inches
Framed size 20 ¼ x 24 ¼ inches
William E. Jones was born in Bristol. He became a landscape painter and went on to exhibit his work from 1849 to 1871 at the Royal Academy, the British Institution and Suffolk Street.
Jones was a member of the Bristol Academy of Arts.
Despite there being very little known about his career as such, he was a most gifted landscape painter.
His work is the match for any of the Williams family, who were his contemporaries.
It is recorded that Jones lived at 7, Acton Street, Gray’s Inn Road in 1853; 35 Argyle Square in 1855;
22 Manchester Street in 1863 and 19 Argyle Square in 1871.
