York Minster Skeleton Clock
D194. A fine quality skeleton clock modelled on York Minster by Evans of Handsworth,
circa 1860.
These skeleton clocks are always made to a very high standard, the frames being finished meticulously. The wheel-work of the chain fusee movement has six crossings and a compensated pendulum with wood rod and cylindrical pewter bob is used. The engraved and silvered chapter ring is finely fretted out and employs stylised roman numerals. The clock strikes the half hours on a bell and strikes and repeats the hours on a gong. It is protected by a replacement rosewood base and brass framed dome.

Overall height. 24". (61cms.) £7,850.

Examples of these skeleton clocks are illustrated and discussed in British Skeleton Clocks by Derek Roberts. Pages 66-69. ISBN. 1 851490 59 0.
