A fine quality 8 day York Minster striking skeleton clock. 7 pillar twin chain fusee movement with six spoke wheel work, anchor escapement, rack striking on a gong. With passing half hour striking on a bell with pull repeat. Wood rod pendulum with pewter bob. Silvered skeleton chapter ring.
The clock was made by William Frederick Evans, Soho Street, Handsworth, Birmingham, who decided to produce clocks inspired by famous buildings. The quality of these clocks is always excellent. The frames being substantial and very well executed. Indeed nowhere in the design or execution of his clocks did Evans try to save on materials, time or money.
