Anna Catharina Nordlander was a Swedish painter. She is known for her portraits and her depictions of genre- nature- and folk life: she is counted as a pioneer in illustrating the life of the Forest Sami.

Anna Nordlander was born to parish vicar Nils Nordlander (1796–1874) and Anna Maria Gestrin, and was raised in Skellefteå. She studied at the Royal Swedish Academy of Arts (1866), just two years after the Academy had been opened for the admission of women. She stayed until 1872. Afterwards she continued her training in Brussels with the famous Belgian painter, Jean-François Portaels, and during the year 1877 she attended the Académie Julian in Paris.

Nordlander is represented on several Swedish museums, such as the National Museum in Stockholm. She was, however, not particularly acknowledged until the late 20th-century. In her own time, it was not regarded as entirely proper for a woman to be a 'public person', which has been given as a reason for this.

She passed away in 1879 (from tuberculosis at the age of 36) before her oeuvre could really take off. In 1876, she was selected, amongst other artists, to represent Sweden at the Centennial Exhibition in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, with the work ‘the favourite toilet’. Her life and art did attract wider attention posthumously. This gave rise to the creation of an art and women's museum in Sweden: the Museum Anna Nordlander (MAN). Established in 1995, and named after her, it mainly focuses on the artist’s oeuvre as well on other contemporary artists, and is one of the few museums bearing a woman’s name. The museum's activities do include the biennial distribution of Anna Nordlander Prize for Nordic Artists. The Anna Nordlander Museum displays approximately 40 of her works, mainly drawings and watercolours. Only a few oil paintings are known.
