Couaillet Freres was started in 1892 by Armand Couaillet with his brothers Henri and Ernest. They were the largest manufacturer and supplier of carriage clock blanc roulants in Saint-Nicolas D'Aliermont and also made their own complete clocks, all parts bar mainsprings and escapements were produced by the firm. The firm got into financial difficulties around 1930 and the brothers went their separate ways with Armand being bought out by a clockmaking firm Exacta which is said to have lasted until 1935. Thereafter the name Couaillet survived through the son of Henri also called Henri who set up the firm Couaillet Henri Fils in 1930 and was it seems still in business in 1974.
