David Carr was a painter and collector, born in London. He initially studied History at Oxford, before deciding to study Art under Cedric Morris, East Anglia School of Painting and Drawing at Dedham, together with fellow student Lucien Freud and Barbara Gilligan, his future wife. He began to paint there and in London where he also started collecting work of his friends such as Robert Colquhoum and MacBryde and other Soho based artists.
Carr completed remarkable series of oils in post-Cubist style on the theme of watercolours.
His work was included in a show at Whitechapel Art Gallery in 1953 and in a show at Southampton City Art Gallery. His work was shown at Mayor Gallery in 1987 and Shaefer Gallery in New York in 1997.
