George Wise Senior
George Wise Senior is the third of four successive generations of Tunbridge Ware makers in Tonbridge. For the first twenty years of his working life George Wise Senior specialised in the production of workboxes, tea caddies, games and other boxes of good quality, mostly decorated with prints.
In the 1830's Wise began to produce veneered items with miniature parquetry and tessellated mosaic work and is attributed with the introduction of a marbled veneer, which was used for a relatively short period in the 1840's. Wise also produced topographical subjects in Tunbridge Ware, including a view of Windsor Castle.
