Gerald Cooper was born in London. After serving in the First World War, he began stadying at the West Bromwich School of Art and later at the Royal College of Art. He was merried to Muriel Minter, also an artist and they spent most of their life in Wimbledon. Cooper exhibited at the Royal Academy and the New English Art Club.
