Marine and landscape painter.He was born in Hull but lived in Nottingham until 1844 when he moved to Liverpool. Studied with James Baker Pyne.Exhibited at the Liverpool Academy and was elected a member in 1847. Moved to London and exhibited at the Royal Academy 1838 - 1874, the British Institution, the Suffolk Street Gallery and the Portland Gallery.
