Henry Hollamby started in the Tunbridge Ware industry at the age of 12 in 1831 as an apprentice to George & James Burrows. After his aprenticeship he worked in his own business until 1891, both as a retailer and a wholesaler.
Unlike many of his contemporaries, Hollamby only worked in tesellated mosaic. He was particularly renowned for producing many of the topographical subjects in Tunbridge Ware, including views close to home and further afield. Local views include The Pantiles, Penshurst Place, Hever & Tonbridge Castle. Views outside the immediate locality included Shakespeare's Birthplace, Great Malvern Priory, Eastnor, Irish views & the Capitol in Washinton, USA.
Hollamby rarely labelled his work.
