John Absolon first began exhibiting work when he was seventeen years old. He first began painting scenery and portraits in Covent Garden. From 1832 to 1835 he travelled to Paris, and on return he became a member of the New Watercolour society. In his lifetime Absolon exhibited at Royal Society of Artists, Birmingham; Walker Art Gallery,Liverpool; Manchester City Art Gallery; Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolors, London; Royal Society of British Artists, London; Royal Institute of Oil Painters, London; Royal Society of British Artists, London. He died in 1895.
