Jonathan Lowndes (Loundes) is recorded as a celebrated clockmaker working in (Loundes) at the turn of the 18th century. He was a member of the
Clockmakers' Company from 1680 to 1710 and was Steward in 1696.

Several of his clocks were included in the Wetherfield Collection and he also made watches.
