Karl Heffner was born in Wurzburg in Germany in 1849. He was mainly a genre painter of landscapes. He worked in Dresden and Munich, as well as in England. In 1887, he gained the title Professor from the prince regent. He exhibited in Vienna and Munich from 1873-1883 and in London at the Royal Academy from 1880-1888.
