A painter in both oil and pastel, celebrated for his theatrical and ballet studies. He was born in Paris and became a student of Cabanel at the Beaux-Arts school and of Galland. He exhibited extensively at the salons from 1875 onwards. Examples of his work are to be found in many museums throughout France. This particular work is dedicated to his friend Mangin and was executed in 1903.
