Pieter Christiaan Cornelis DOMMERSON
Marine painter from Utrecht in Holland who moved with his family to England at the end of the 19th century. His family name was Dommelshuizen but was changed for convenience when the family came to England. He came from an artistic family, his brother Christian C. Dommerson was a marine painter and his son William Raymond Dommerson is known for his paintings of Dutch waterways. Pieter Cornelis worked mainly in oils and is best known for his paintings of Dutch coastal and harbour views and street scenes. He travelled extensively in Europe, often accompanied by his son. He exhibited in London at the Royal Academy, British Institution and Society of British Artists.
