Reco Capey studied art at the Royal College of Art (1919-22). He worked as an industrial designer in various mediums including pottery, glass, metal, textiles and lacquer. He was the Art director at Yardley & Co (1928-1959). Industrial contracts in the United States and Canada were to follow. He was the chief instructor of design at the Royal College of Art (1924-35). From 1929 to 1940 he exhibited at the Royal Academy, he also exhibited at the Paris Salon.
