Robert W Wright
Robert William Wright was an oil painter born in Ascot, Berkshire in 1850. Although he spent his early years in Berkshire, later on in his life he moved to Hammersmith, London. He specialised in genre subjects usually on a smaller scale and often painted domestic scenes portraying family life and nearly always with children. Many of his works were also executed in pairs as in these fine examples. He exhibited at the Royal Academy from 1871 with titles including ‘Baby’s Birthday’, ‘Making Patchwork’ and ‘Mind Your Own Business’. He also exhibited at Suffolk Street and elsewhere. An example of his work can be found at the Atkinson Art Gallery, Southport.
