Daisy Makeig-Jones joined the Wedgwood factory as a ceramic designer in 1909. She persuaded the Wedgwood factory’s skilled team of industrial chemists to experiment with decorative techniques to produce the “Ordinary Lustres” from which were developed the first Fairyland Lustre designs. By combining this technical ingenuity with a vivid imagination that drew upon the work of artists such as Arthur Rackham, Edmund Dulac and Kay Nielsen, Daisy Makeig-Jones created an exotic and dramatic vision of Fairyland on Wedgwood bowls and vases.
