The Staithes Group
The Staithes Group were members of an artists colony based in and around the little Yorkshire fishing village of that name around a century ago. Many of its members had trained in Paris and Antwerp in the 1880s and '90s and they painted in the boad brush Impressionist style, often combining it with Social Realism. Laura and Harold Knight spent most of the first ten years of their painting careers living as part of the colony.
