William Parrott studied under the engraver John Pye and then devoted himself to painting. He travelled in Italy in 1844 and 1845, visited Germany in 1851 and made frequent trips to Brittany and Normandy. In 1840 he published a series of lithographs depicting London and the Thames, and in 1843 a dozen views of Paris and the Seine.
